I was curious as to why my guide was so convincing about skipping Innsbruck and in turn head straight to Venice for a big night. One step in the hostel and I soon realised why-it's run down design was oozing charm ,and not to mention the lack of atmosphere... this place was bursting with entertainment. However all this aside the view was fairytale like, surrounded by mountains with glimmering snow at the peaks and pink clouds at sunset. Let me tell you this basic hostel was a bonding experience with fellow travellers leading to 20 mins of straight laughter over this haunted place.
After losing an arm and a leg for an "all inclusive" Innsbruck card, I set out on the search for positivity. Just 24 hours to take advantage of this $55 card. Dotted all over the brochure map, it was a race against time to achieve a high score in sight seeing.
To the science centre, the golden roof, 3 hours of free bike hire,"it's okay sir I only need it for 1". Lunch, okay I have 10 mins to consume the sandwich I had made from breakfast. Okay off to check out the fresh food market, tripped over a pot plant while at it. To the hop on hop off city bus or a quick audio guide. Two stops later and I was off to the Swarovski store to pick up my free hidden treasure awaiting me. A shitty butterfly necklace later and I was at the op shop. Day 10 and still no pj pants. No time to fret my shuttle bus to Swarovski world was near.
Navigating my way through that place was timeless, from the crystal dome room to mirror maze and neon haven it was honestly like nothing else in the world *highly recommend*. Sore legs and a missed busses I made it back highly satisfied with my amazing race experience.
The locals here are so chill and live a life of maximum freedom. The food and all important alcohol is dirt cheap. The place was amazing in summer I can only imagine it in winter(it was home of the winter Olympic Games). Definitely a place to stop!
