So my first stop in pasta town was Venice and after 3 nights you could pretty much call me a local. Far from it, however it's gorgeous canals are enough to take up all your phone memory purely from snapping the same photo on a new bridge with a new gondola below.
I met a wicked bunch of people at the campsite, majority solo travellers uniting with a cheap bottle of wine. Camping jolly Venice offered eternal fun, not to mention the handsome fella in my dorm(accent included). My new nomad family decided to spend the last day sprawled out by the pool working on the all important tan. Lets just say I was part lobster for a day or two after. However we lacked motivation to pay for the afternoon shuttle in so after exploring for just one day it's safe to say Venice gives you that wanderlust feeling weaving your way between hidden streets
Next stop Rome 📍
I'm not to sure what I perceived Rome to be like but after one day of exploring, I'm positive it exceeded expectations. This place is amazing! After watching countless movies featuring the beauty of Rome it's become evident just how much this place has to offer. I'm not much of a history person but around every corner is a new story and in hand a time machine ready to zip you back eras. Imagination is the key to Rome, that and listening in on info from the tour guides (that tourists actually paid for). This is a city of talent, most evident in the quirky side streets. Music, art... there's something new every glance!
My advice for Italy
I urge you to get lost. Allow curiosity to lead the way. With a map of sights(which I can't follow anyway) I found myself with the greatest tactic. Picking left or right at each intersection. The crowds are massive here so taking the offbeaten track will most likely end you up somewhere interesting. To me that's what travel is all about. Spontaneity!
With all the warnings of theft I actually felt incredibly safe. The Italians don't mind a little flirt but it definitely has you leaving in laughter with a smile as wide as the sun, guarenteed!
You must try a good gelato, the fresh ones are the ones that aren't actually on show so look out for that. I found the most amazing one called 'Old Bridge' located just near the Vatican. So I highly recommend!
