Next stop please driver!
Okay so I don't really have that much to say about Florence apart from catching 'Travellers Syndrome'. If you don't know what it is that would be because I just made up the term. So after constant day planning, transport searching and endless walking it can begin to take its toll. Days of rest / lack of motivation to leave the hostel(especially those with a pool and bar within) are the 2 symptoms of this condition.
As far as the city of Florence goes to me I would describe it as bland. Each building is the exact same design and colour as the last (apart from the church above) and to me that's bland, or to be more descriptive...boring. The museums are quite popular especially the statue of David (all revealed) and Di Vinci's work but I am so over history so I have no interest in that. In a more positive aspect karaoke at Red Garter was absolutely brilliant not to mention the 2L jugs of cocktail confidence to get you up on stage. I will never forget blasting out a duet to High School Musical infront of 200 wasted souls.
I stayed at Plus Hostel Florence (which was awesome) and had the most amazing rooftop terrace, great for sunset drinks and card games with a bunch of randoms. It soon went down hill with a creepy Indian roommate who didn't understand the meaning of 'No' when trying to come onto me but later grasped it after I started yelling at him for 5 minutes straight. I was packed and out the door in seconds the morning after.
As I didn't see much of Florence I only have one recommendation(other than karaoke) and that's Michelangelo's lookout as seen above! It was quite stunning at midday I can only imaging the view at sunset or lit up at night!
Next stop Cinque Terre
