Lana's Guide To Backpacking Europe!

1.Pack light

Of course every blog is going to say this but I can guarantee when your walking up 3 stories to get to your hostel with 20 something kilograms on your back you will thank me for it. Also I can guarantee you will find funky shops around where you are unable to resist(so make sure there's room and your bag so is not bursting at the seams like mine). My number one packing essential is a deck of cards or UNO(everone will want to be your friend-Kings Cup awaits!). My other suggestion is to download the app heads up. I can't count the amount of times I have had a 12 hour bus ride with a bunch of boring, hungover souls aboard. They will be up in an instant loaded with laughs. One of the best ways to keep yourself and everyone else entertained!

2.Do the pub crawls!

If your traveling on your own this is one of the best ways to guarantee yourself a good night out(and it saves you sitting at a bar alone hoping to be approached for a chat by a non-creepy guy). After traveling for 3.5 months now and attending a pub crawl in every city I have visited, I'll give you my top 4

-Split, Croatia: Tower Pub Crawl

-Prague,Czech Republic:Prague Pub Crawl

-Krakow,Poland:Krawl Through Krakow

-Lisbon,Portugal: The Lisbon Pubcrawl

3. Stay with Stoke Travel

I honestly can't stress this enough! You will have the most amazing moments and incredible days. Being one of the most affordable companies who aim for people around 18-30 years of age your certainly in for a blast! The staff are all so easy going and down to earth and will dedicate their time to ensure a smile that can't be wiped off your face!

Whether you are up for their surf camp in San Sebastian, their beach camp in Ibiza or if pelting tomato's into crowds at the La Tomatina festival is more your go. Stoke is definitely the way to go as you will see in my upcoming days at Oktoberfest. Pay 10 euros a day for unlimited beer and sangria at each site( or use my promo code 'Lanz' and get it free ;) )

4.Be careless!

Have fun, make mistakes and make memories. I have done karaoke with a bunch of Irish guys, done the worm on the ground in Berlin markets, started the crowd singing 'hey baby' many times on many nights out, turned the pouring rain into a slip and slide opportunity, been the only one dancing to the buskers on the side of the street, high fived people holding their hands to the leaning tower of Pisa.Just have a laugh! Eat what you want without caring about your weight and if you can leave time for having no plans please do it. Go adventuring, get lost. Make your trip flexible and tag along with people through cities. This is the stuff you remember most!

5. Take photos( and lots of them)

Please leave time to take in your surroundings but a quick snap never hurt. Feeling homesick? Look through your photos and all the people you have met. Bored with no WiFi? Scroll through em all.

Telling a story? Show them a photo to go with it(don't mistake this for being on your phone the whole time)!

So there you go my 5 top tips for making the most of your time across Europe! Now you have heard it from me, go live it for yourself!!
